Poker is a card game that can be played by any number of players from 2 to 14. The object of the game is to win the “pot,” which is the sum of all bets made in each deal. The player with the best hand wins the pot.

A player starts the round by putting in an initial bet. This is called a “blind.” In some games, the player to the left of the dealer must also post a blind.

Next, each player to the left of the first player in turn must make a bet, called a “call” or a “raise.” These are usually small amounts of money (varies by game), and they are forced bets that provide players with a chase for their opponents’ chips.

Betting continues until all players call or fold their hands. The player who folded loses any chips they put into the pot. It is the best strategy to fold if your hand is not likely to win.
